Ibis Moja sl

Our brains were hurting after spending the 1900+ hours of cad and engineering time developing the Mojo, so we took a little bit of time off. It wasn’t a lot of time-maybe a weekend-and we already were thinking about ways to improve it. That’s how we are. Fast forward more than a year and way more than a thousand Mojos later and we present to you the MojoSL. Let’s get right down to it, because our brains are starting to hurt again.
Features of the MojoSL
Sub 5 Pound Frame/swingarm/rear shock (size Large)
Complete bike weight 21.9 lbs
Ultra high modulus fiber enhanced layup
Carbon fiber head cups
Carbon fiber dropouts with stainless steel sheath
Carbon fiber seat tube insert
DT Swiss XR Carbon shock and shock hardware
6-4 Ti fasteners and shock pin
Carbon fiber main pivot tube
Special rubber paint (durable, easy to clean)
Carbon monocoque frame and swing arm
5.5" (140mm) rear wheel travel
DW-Link Suspension
Forged and anodized links (now available in designer colors)
Easy to service pivots and bearings
BFD you say? We say yes.
We’ve managed to squeeze nearly half a pound out of the original Mojo frame. Not only that, we’ve put our high end kit on a diet, and the results would impress even Jenny Craig (for your Euros and others, Jenny Craig is a weight loss program we have here in the USofA).
The MojoSL with the pimp daddy WTF group weighs in at UNDER TWENTY TWO POUNDS. Yes, you’re reading it right, we’ve now got a 5.5” travel All Mountain or XC bike that weighs 22lbs (Euros, that’s 10Kg!). And we’re not putting any stupid parts on there, parts that you’re just going to take off immediately.
For a look at the WTF group, click here.
Deliveries start in November 2007.
Tranny
后视全车
(搭配的MANITOU R7 MRD Carbon最近据说好象并不发售 可能只给车队使用 网路上看到08年册里好象并没有这款)
It’s a carbon fiber hardtail.
It’s a geared bike.
It’s a single speed.
It’s a travel bike.
It’s all of the above.
It’s the Ibis Tranny.
People have been asking us "when are you going to make a hardtail?", "When are you going to make a single speed?", "When are you going to make a travel bike?", "When are you going to make a 29er?".
We've got answer for all of you.
The answer is NOW. Well, except the 29er folk who are going to need to wait.
Briefly:
First and foremost, the The Ibis Tranny is a strong and lightweight monocoque carbon fiber hardtail. And a lightweight, laterally stiff, vertically compliant one at that. The Tranny goes far beyond being just a hardtail, resulting in some unique features. The features are a result of the removable, adjustable-length, chainstay. This means you can transform it from a single speed to a geared bike to a travel bike in a matter of minutes.
How Do We Do It?
Take a close peek at the section behind the bottom bracket. There's some hidden equipment down there we call the "Slot Machine". It's not really a machine, but it does have a slot that makes it adjustable. That allows us to lengthen the chainstays, so we can make this thing into a bona fide single speed. It's lighter than an eccentric bottom bracket, and cleaner than a chain tensioner. Look at our little animation of the Slot Machine in action. One bolt cinches the whole thing up.
As an added bonus, that same box of magic along with the curious little bolt up along the wishbone allows you to take the whole rear end off of the bike. Two bolts and it's in two pieces. Why would you want to do that? Easier to travel with my friends, and also possible to fly with this thing in a travel case and not pay the exorbitant fees the airlines like to charge us to carry our bikes.
Not much of a Weight Penalty
The Tranny frame weighs about 1250g, which in America translates to about 2.75 lbs. With the WTF group, the complete bike weight is about 19 lbs. Not bad for such a versatile machine.
Shave Some Weight
Dress this beast up as a Single Speed and lose another pound plus. Get really freaky and put a rigid front fork on there and you're down in the road bike weight realm.
We've been tossing around a lot of other ways to dress up your Tranny as well. One of our favorites is to use a rigid 700c disc brake front fork, a set of Mavic SpeedCity wheels and see how low you can go. 16 lbs or so?
Tranny Spotting
There won't be many Tranny spottings at Ibis dealers until early in 2008. We'll be taking orders though.
公路:Ibis Silk SL
与前面几台山地比 有些黯然失色了……
The new 2008 Ibis SilkSL uses an all new layup of ultra high modulus carbon fiber, resulting in both a weight savings and a gain in strength. New carbon fiber headcups further reduce the weight, resulting in a 58cm frame weight of under 900g. That's about two pounds total.
Cosmetically, there's an all new graphics package, and many of you will be happy to hear we're now offering colors. In addition to the standard gloss clear (which shows the beautiful carbon weave), we also are offering British Racing Green and a rich Red. Photos of those bikes are forthcoming.
Best of all the new SilkSL is the same price as last year with no upcharge for a painted frame.
The end
